Online prenatal classes

Our Online Prenatal Classes were created with our hospital experience in mind. Our goal with this course is for you to receive unbiased information about the options you have when giving birth, so that you feel confident in actively making decisions while navigating your birth. We have created a 10 session course that you can do at your own pace. The course includes added videos and PDF resources.

Session 1 - Labor, Birth and Immediate Postpartum : Making Informed Decisions This session is the introduction to our Labor, Birth and Immediate Postpartum workshop, which includes a total of 10 sessions. We will introduce our tool ; the ''Labor, Birth and Postpartum preferences Notebook''', that you will be using for the entire workshop.

Session 2 - Physiological Labor 101 This session is all about how labor unfolds in your body. Understanding the mechanisms behind labor and birth will help you work with your body and your baby.
Includes : -Visual reminder : Hormones in labor -Cheat sheet : Is it labor ?
Session 3 - General Labor Options In this session, we will discuss the main options available if you are giving birth in a hospital setting. Here is where we talk about fetal heart monitoring, eating and drinking during labor, cervical exams, etc. We will also talk about the importance of intuitive movement and explore different labor positions.

Session 4 - Comfort Measures and Medical Pain Relief Labor and birth are intense experiences. In this session, learn all about physiological and pharmacological methods that can bring you support and comfort. We’ll discuss breathing techniques and comfort measures as well as epidural and other medications available in hospital.

Session 5 - Variations in Labor In this session, we will go over some of the common variations that can happen in labor. Labor is unpredictable! Those variations are considered normal, and can happen to anyone. We will discuss different topics here ; what happens if your baby comes a little early or the opposite, if you are still pregnant past your due date! We will also review what happens when there’s meconium in your amniotic fluid, how your baby’s position can impact labor and more!

Session 6 - Induction & Augmentation of Labor If an induction of labor is suggested by your healthcare team, here is all you need to know about the induction process ! You can still have an empowering birth even if you are scheduled for an induction of labor. Let us help you understand the process so you can make your own decisions throughout your induction!
Session 7 - The Second Stage : Pushing Options Everything you need to know about the pushing stage ! Will talk about different ways of pushing as well as optimal positions to birth your baby. We will also talk about tearing, and the possibility of an instrumental delivery.

Session 8 - The Third Stage : Immediate Postpartum Options What happens once your baby is born? We will take a look at what happens next as well as options during the third stage, which is the birth of the placenta.


Session 9 - Cesarean Section Options You might already know that you will have a cesarean section to birth your baby. This session is perfect if you have a cesarean section scheduled... But cesarean sections also happen when not planned, which is why this session can be beneficial to everybody!.
Session 10 - Uncommon Labor Complications At last, we will discuss various uncommon labor complications such as umbilical cord issues, fetal distress, postpartum hemorrhage, etc. Includes : - Template : Birth preferences document
